Black Creek Podcasts is changing.
The initial impetus for the creation of Black Creek Podcasts was to bring into being New Dawn- a collaborative story created though roleplay using the Delta Green system.
This idea has morphed over the months into the scripting and current creation of a full audio drama and audio drama shorts which hopefully will start to release late 2026. New Dawn mini-season two is still in production while other things have been happening in the background. Mini-season three will hopefully go into recording soon.
Story writing and sound are passions, however if I were to have to choose one over the other then creating vivid ‘scene’s and emotions through sound would have to come first.
Stories can be told purely with sound and music and without written word or spoken word. Together they convey more than any one in insolation. It is something that I have been an avid consumer of since childhood and creator of for that last quarter century. There was a sizeable gap of many years in my creation of such things but that has significantly changed.
Over the last few months, I have been re-evaluating what Black Creek Podcasts is. I have been spending numerous hours, days, weeks and months in learning new skills, honing old ones and building a production suite capable of the production of high-quality sound design and music. This is an ongoing process and investment both in time and financially. While working on current projects I started to consider what I wanted to do moving forward. A massive part of the enjoyment for me is to be found in sound design and creating music for audio drama. I have found myself increasingly working on small pieces with no intended audience but rather out of passion and for a learning experience. There are more specific projects currently underway which will be revealed at a later date but for now those will stay in the background.
I have recently made the decision to concentrate more on sound design and music creation and especially in relation to podcast and audio drama production. To this end Black Creek Podcasts is now the overarching title for not just my own podcast production but also for music creation and services for sound design and music for selected commissioned projects.
There is now a Soundcloud page for music and soundbeds for use in podcasts. Currently these are free to use with credit and that will continue, however licensable tracks will also start to be added soon. I want to support creators who are maybe starting out or who have like myself being creating on a small budget of their own funding. This is important to me as I have predominantly over the years used creative commons creditable sounds and music and I want to give back and to support the small indie creator. However, I also want to be able to invest more in my own production setup and software. I have invested no small amount in this but now in order to keep pushing my creativity forward I need more investment.
To this end I am intending to take on a small number of commissions for original sound design and music creation. I am not intending (if creators are interested in using my services) to take on vast amounts of work, they will be projects that ‘speak’ to me as a creator. This will be a paid for enterprise allowing me to create more, challenge myself, and to invest back into my own production setup. I may also create some music and sound design beds for download purchase – I am still to some extent formulating how the ‘whole’ remit will resolve.
The website is currently being updated to reflect the broader remit of Black Creek Podcasts as an entity starting with the ‘Who are we’ section and more work going into short pieces on audio drama, sound design and audio in general in the ‘Behind the Scenes’ pages. I also want to create a space where budding creatives can find information and see the journey of someone else unfolding.
Over time the landing page will change quite significantly, but one step at a time.
I am quite excited about what is to come, and it feels ‘right’.
